Have you ever heard the saying too smart for your own good? I believe certain doctrines if given unbalanced weight, can make many of us too smart for our own good. We precious time thinking about things that may disturb and hinder our faith rather than things that help it. In this next verse I want you to look, think and meditate on it with new eyes.
Yes, since the day was I am he; and there is no one who can deliver out of my hand. I will work, and who can hinder it?
Who can hinder the work of God? Can we allow God’s mercy and goodness to set a beneficial trap for us, if you will, in which the sinner in us, that wants to make excuses to ignore and turn from God cannot wiggle out from. There is no one who can deliver out of God’s hands. Believe this verse positively for yourself, if you doubt His goodness and mercy for you. Believe this loving God has strong hands of mercy and He desires to grip you, with a perfect grip of mercy and love. All He asks from you is belief, nothing else. Our only work is to believe, and this He is very willing to work in us. He will work the rest of our work in us through Himself within us.
Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves, and were filled. Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.”
They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?”
Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
Notice in these verses Jesus did tell these people to work for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.
Now take these verses as a promise, look at these verses in simple believing faith as small child would, not with the analytical and skeptical scrutiny of an intellectual. Some can choose to read this to the convenience of hopeful child-like faith, or you can choose to read it in a way that leads down a less hopeful path. Now tie this back into to Isaiah 43:13, choose to believe in God’s merciful and gracious will for you, choose to believe in His perfect grip and work. His desire to do this work within you, allow His work to become your working for the food which remains to eternal life, trust His good will for you, personally.
1st Timothy 2:4-6a
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all;
God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, Through Jesus. Jesus gave himself as a ransom for all;
Now this is a truth small children can understand, if all the words were explained well to them. This is a truth that elevates God’s mercy, love and graciousness to us. This is a convenient truth beneficial for producing child-like faith in the God who is love. We can choose ruminate on truths not one of us can understand, to our befuddlement. We can choose the wisdom and pride of man for ourselves rather than the mercy and love of God.
“Behold, this is the man who didn’t make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”
We can choose the riches of our intellect and understanding, we can choose the approach of the dignity and wisdom of man, (who I’m sure can think circles around me) or we may choose the foolishness of God. I choose to believe the understandable claims of God, basically saying. “I am love, I am mercy, I am gracious, believe I am these for you, and I am willing to save you. Make me your Strength. ” Do not choose to believe strongly, and ruminate on truths that lead you away from God, truths that excuse your sin of turning away from God.
This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God.”
Do not expediently make loop holes for your turning away from God. If you do, when you meet Him, all truth will be exposed. I believe what will be exposed for many, is that they willingly chose to believe in God’s hatred for them, in God’s will that they be damned. They chose to believe this because they loved the darkness rather than the light. They chose the ”freedom” to sin rather than pardon from sin. They chose for themselves their own works, rather than accepting the perfect works of God.
